Building FoUNdations for Reading Success
Sight Words
Sight Words (Fry or Dolch) are also called "high frequency words". They are words that are used very often in day to day conversation & texts.
In terms of sight words, children should be able to do the following:
•recognize the word when they see it
•write the word on their own
•spell the word correctly
•know how to read/pronounce the word
•know how to use the word accurately
Ideally, a child should be able to work with all sight words specified for a grade by the start of the school year for that grade level.
Is your child in need of reinforcement or practice?
