Grab a kid's card game & make family game night extra fun! Each pair features a parent & baby animal to connect letters with words & pictures. Playing reinforcies vocabulary & memory processing through word-picture recognition & pre-reading skills.
This version of Go Fish can be played in a variety of ways:
•Finding capital & lowercase letter pairs (ages 4-6 years) - Use questions like "Do you have a letter D?"
•Spelling the name of the animal (ages 4-12 years) - Use questions like "Do you have an L-I-O-N?"
•Finding letter pairs based upon sound (ages 4-8 years) - Use questions like "Do you have a letter that makes the /duh/ sound?" or "Do you have a letter that begins the word duck?"
•Matching baby animals and their fathers (ages 4-12 years) - Use questions like "Do you have an animal that has a baby called a kitten?" or "Do you have a calf's daddy?"
•Finding animals based upon characteristics (ages 9+) - Use questions like "Donyou have an animal with four big paws and a mane?" or "Do you have an animal that barks?"
Playing together encourages turn-taking, communication, cooperation, and patience, while supporting alphabet mastery and problem-solving. These are important social skills to master.
In addition to playing Go Fish to collect uppercase and lowercase letter pairs; letter pairs based upon their sounds; matching animals based upon spelling; babies & daddies based upon characteristics; etc., the cards can also be used to play other games.
For example, a variatiin of "Old Maid" can be played by removing the bacy lion (cub) so the game becomes "Old Lion". Once all pairs are made, the player with the Old Lion loses (or if you want to be more positive, that person can win).
Kids can also play by themselves by flippibg over the cards to play memory match.
